Wrought iron candlesticks

Wrought iron candlesticks

Striking pair of hand-forged wrought iron candelabra from France, dating to the 1950s. These sculptural five-light candleholders strongly reflect the aesthetic associated with Jean Touret and the Atelier de Marolles, known for their expressive, Brutalist approach to forged iron. Each piece is entirely hand-forged, with visible hammer marks and subtle irregularities that highlight their artisanal origin. The elegant curved arms rise organically from a central stem, creating a dynamic yet balanced silhouette. The architectural base, with its slightly zoomorphic feet, gives the pair a grounded and powerful presence — a characteristic often seen in Marolles workshop creations. The dark patinated iron surface enhances the raw, sculptural quality while retaining warmth and depth. A small stamped shell motif is visible on the structure, reinforcing the handcrafted workshop character typical of mid-century French iron production. Both functional and decorative, they work beautifully on a dining table, console, or mantelpiece, and integrate seamlessly into interiors ranging from rustic and wabi-sabi to refined modern spaces. The listed price is for the set of two pieces.
