Rare early edition Atollo table lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti for Oluce in 1977. This is an original first production example, model 233, featuring a distinctive mud green–brown coated aluminum finish. This particular surface treatment was briefly introduced by Oluce during the earliest phase of production, but was soon abandoned due to its complex and unpredictable results. As a result, only a small number of lamps were produced in this finish, making it especially rare and desirable among collectors. The lamp retains its original Oluce label and presents in excellent original condition, with a beautifully even patina that enhances its sculptural presence. The harmonious interplay of geometric forms—cylinder, cone, and hemisphere—perfectly illustrates Magistretti’s refined approach to balance and proportion. An iconic piece of Italian design, the Atollo remains one of the most celebrated lighting designs of the 20th century, and this early variant offers a unique opportunity to acquire a particularly scarce and characterful example.
