This rare set of four Miss Dorn chairs, designed by Philippe Starck for Disform in 1982, is a striking example of the designer’s early radical vision. Created at a moment when Starck was redefining the language of contemporary furniture, the chairs embody the experimental energy of the early 1980s. The design features black coated tubular steel frames paired with round, cylindrical black fabric seats. Built from a vocabulary of primary shapes and hard, architectural lines, the chairs form a highly distinctive sculptural silhouette—graphic, balanced, and instantly recognizable. The curved backrest appears almost drawn in space, contrasting beautifully with the precise geometry of the tripod legs and the softness of the upholstered seat. Both minimal and expressive, Miss Dorn perfectly illustrates the tension between industrial structure and human comfort that characterizes Starck’s work. The result is a set that feels simultaneously postmodern and timeless, equally at home in a contemporary interior, a design-focused dining setting, or as sculptural accent pieces. A highly collectible ensemble by one of the most influential designers of the late 20th century.
