Carlo Scarpa – ‘Doge’ dining table

Carlo Scarpa – ‘Doge’ dining table

Early edition ‘Doge’ dining table by Carlo Scarpa for Simon*, Italy 1968. This table comes from the Ultrarazionale series and has become an icon of Italian design. Within this series they wanted to create furnitures that go beyond the rationalism, of very essential linearity. Made out of steel, brass and glass, this table remains in its original and very well presented condition. The assembly with visible screws creates a great architectural impact and a sort of functional beauty. Later produced by Cassina, this one comes from the first series. Collector’s item.

* After Gavina cessed the company to Knoll in 1967, Dino Gavina and Maria Simoncini set up the production company ‘Simon’.
